I can't believe that all this time has gone by. I miss phil so much. When he was alive, i felt like he was my relative. And he will always be close to me, although he has left our living plain. I will always miss him.
I just found the message that I wrote here about four years ago. Holy shit. I can't believe all of this time has gone by. I feel that I have grown to feel even deeper for that wonderful man that we all loved so much. He was an inspiration and I know that when we all see him on SNL on comedy central that we all still know that he will always be here to make us laugh, even if it is on reruns. All I know is that I feel so privalaged to have been able to know what it felt like to witness his genius while he was still here.I know that we all still miss him and love him but I think that the people that have written in this guest book know the truth, that he will never disappear from our thoughts, our hearts and our television screens.

i remember the day Phil died, as i had just finished my junior year in high school, now, as i'm graduating college, and watching a lot of old newsradio episodes, i'm reminded of how great a performer Phil was. Thank you for the laughs; kudos to you sir, and kudos again.
YOU WERE MY FAVRITE TV.TALLENT AND I GESS U ALWAYS WILL BE.I REAIY LOVE YOUR YOUR WORK IT'S TIMELESS AND NOW YOY ARE TO. THANKS FOR SO MANY GOOD TIMES. WE LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU.
Phil Hartman, a man to me knwon as Bill McNeal! And he could say Bill McNeal as no one can! Still a tragedy and without a doubt a great loss to comedy and to the World!Farewell Phil!
Phil is the best. He was so funny as Lionel Hutz in the Simpsons. This guy is a master when it comes to comedy. I for one will miss him for all the great roles he played. Phil is the best. Phil is the best.

I always loved Phil because of his role in Newsradio.. He always made me laugh when I felt bad.. Today.. I was looking around on websites and I read that he was gone... tears came into my eyes and... I didn't wanted to believe it.. it couldn't be true ... Phil.. we will always love you.. rest in peace..
I regret the fact that I never got to write this man or maybe even meet him.It is not fair that he died and I miss him very much, six years later.I loved him on SNL and Newsradio and the Simpsons and everything else. And Phil, whereever you are, I love ya!I'll see you in heaven one day.
I didn't know really who Phil was when i heard he died, i was sixteen years old then, but after his death, i saw pictures with him in it, and shows as well, like Newsradio, and i realized what a great person we lost. Why? Why him? If i could i would wish to be with hi in heaven, because that's where he is i'm sure making God laugh and aking everyone up there feel right at home. R.I.P. Phil Your candle burned out long before your legend did.
I still watch every possible re-run of Newsradio every day. Phil was the very soul of the show. Never had a chance to watch the Bill moves on episode, since the network that shows Newsradio here in Brazil never bought the fifth season episodes. I miss Newsradio, but most of all, I miss Phil. He brought all of us...Good times, good times!!Pedro
You made me laugh and made me smile, with your charming wit and nutty style. I looked so forward to seeing you. You lifted my spirits when I felt blue. Then all at once you went away, gone forever and to this day, I can't believe it's really real. My heart is broken and now I feel, a sense of sadness without you here. It just grows stronger, year after year. I miss you, Phil, so many do. The world seems empty without you. ~ Written for and dedicated to Phil Hartman ~ By Catherine 3/2003 all rights reserved.
I did not know much about you sir. I am a 13 year old boy of California and I watched a few of your movies and loved them. My recent step father told me on the night of March 17, 2003 that you have been killed. I was deeply moved, very speachless, and sad. I decided from then on to do much study and findings on your great history for I am inspired. I hope you are well, where ever you are... Bye.Sincerely,Micheal Newcomer
Incredible, i didnt knew it until today reading a bio of Mr. Phil Hartman. He was my favorite character on Newsradio and i loved him on SNL. Phil we miss you.
I fell in love with Phil when i first started watching Newsradio, and have been laughing ever since!!!! Phil sure was talented, and he sure warmed my heart in a very special way. Rest in Peace Phil, I Love you!!!!!!

Hello from France.I did not ven know that Phil Hartman was dead. Larry King is broadcasting his brother right now. This guy was marvellous, with a tremandous way to make laugh people. I'm deeply shoked to know this, and especially in the way it happened.G-od bless him, and by the way, America (make that war outlaw !)
I have always loved the comedy by Phil, but didn't truely see how great of a comedian he was until after he passed away. His depiction of Bill McNeil is one of my favorite characters out of any show/movie. Phil's work on News Radio is just amazing, I love it. Also, now that I have earned more appriciation for Phil, I look back at his skits on SNL and just laugh and laugh. Phil is by far the funniest person I have ever had the privilege of watching and I will never forget him. Thank you for you're wonderful gifts to the world Phil.
Damn, it's already almost 5 years now. It is really odd to think about what could have been (I totally could have seen him in Chicago as Billy Flynn, for example), because it seems like he's still here, since he's still on TV so much. That alone, and the fact that people still write about him on websites like this, is such a wonderful testament to how many people he has reached through his many talents. RIP Phil; may you never be forgotten.
Phil Hartman ~ You were always my favorite on SNL!!! You made me laugh hysterically. I would give up many dates on Saturday Nights just to spend them with "YOU"!!! You are missed deeply everyday by your many FANS, FRIENDS AND FAMILY!!! You live in our hearts forever ~~
I still miss Phil Hartman -- especially since A & E stopped running NewsRadio every afternoon! Plus, yesterday Bill McNeil (the original) died yesterday.http://cbc.ca/stories/2003/01/30/mcneil030130I think maybe growing up in Canada, Phil probably chose the name Bill McNeil as a tribute to the famous Canadian CBC Radio personality but I can't find any reference to that. Phil's work will always live on and for that I am grateful.

i just wanted to say that phil was the best actor in the world, and no one will ever change that. I can remember his voice and the laughter that he brought to my home. I hope that his memories live on in everyones hearts in minds forever. We love you Phil
I miss your stoic look whenever you personified a character on your skits. Your dry humor always amazed me. You were one of kind. You are greatly missed. Eventually all your loyal fans will once again have the pleasure of watching you perform many more wonderful characters. mjh
I can't believe the nme of this site is adequatulence. I remember seeing the episode of News Radio the first time Bill McNeill used it. It's sad that he's gone.

Phil, was one of our great comics, i love the fact that all of his voices on the simpsons sounded the same, it was like a running gag. He was just a great guy, and is still sadly missed
I remember where I was when I hear that Phil Hartman had died. I was sitting on Chelsea Piers in new York City, which is a huge sports and entertainment complex. I was waiting for them to open the batting cages so I could go in and take a few hacks before going in to start my evening shift at CBS News Radio (ironicaly enough!). I just happened to bring a radio with me that day flipped on my local affiliate. In they broke with a story about a shooting in LA and that they believed it to be the death of Phil Hartman. Shocked and Saddened. I remember where I was when I first SAW Phil Hartman on SNL. I cannot recall the character he played, I guess I could look it up, but I remember laughing at the very old fashioned look that he had. I also remember how he just ate up the screen. As a guy who'd like to think he's funny, Phil put me and many others to shame. Genius. I certainly never knew Phil as a man, so I can only guess the whole that is left everyday from his not being here. But I can say that I miss his comic timing and his ability to make so many unlikable characters so damn funny.

I have always loved Phil's work ever since I was old enough to understand it. I am only 13 but I realize how great of a comedian Phil was and just a great person at that. Watching SNL when I was younger with my family was wonderful time. Even though I didn't understand the show or know who Phil was I always pointed at him when he came on screen. I still don't know why but I guess it's one of those things we'll never know! I epsecially loved his character sir Lord Bill of McNeal on NewsRadio.(LOL) The show was never the same he worked so well with Dave Foley. The episode Smoking is one that really sticks out in my mind. I am sad that I will never be able to meet him UNLESS I use a ouigi board.Love, Kaitlyn
You were one of the best, Mr. Hartman. We will miss you. I'm sure you're having a good time up there, doing your Jesus impression. You will always have a place in my heart.

Thank you, Mr. Hartman for making me laugh in the past as well as in the present and into the future. Your ability to make people feel good with a good laugh and the professionalism in your acting will be forever appreciated. Thanks Phil, and good-bye.
Your comic genius, has inspired many a laughter filled night with me and my friends...your spirit lives on in everyone who remembers frankenstein, colon blow, and your many impressions...thank you for the laughs Mr.Hartman.
Gone but not forgotten. Your humor still makes me laugh. Even after these years since you have been gone, you are missed and dearly loved. My boys are now old enough to appreciate your humor and watch re-runs of your shows every chance they get. Rest In Peace
Altough I didnt't know Phill Hartman personally, I'm sure he was a good man. Bill, Wherever you are, I hope you're having a good tome out threre. Make them laugh. Let your spirit soar free among the heavens and visit our thoughts when you com by.Goodbye mr. McNeal/ Hartman.Thank you for changing my life this far. Phil, although I never knew You i felt I culd relate to you in so many ways. You're comedy was laways fresh and funny, and even almost years after your death I'm still saddened by your death. To know that the world unjustly lost someone so wonderful, is a great shame. You were great Phil, R.I.P
Phil was a great actor and comedian and no doubt a good man. I never had the pleasure of knowing him and I know now what a loss that is. Most of my peers dont even know who Phil is, alot of fifteen year olds dont. Alot of people compare and have compared me with Phil's character on News Radio, (Bill McNeil) It is a true honer to be compared to him in any way. Thank you for creating this memorial.Phil, I sulute you sir. SULUT!Bradley S Anderson
A true testament to his Phil's worth in this life can surely be measured by reading the tributes on this site 5 years on from his untimely death.A rose about to truly bloom.

I have been watching SNL for a lot of years, and loved Phil on it the whole time. As hard as it is to believe, I never realized how many characters he did regularly until I was browsing on the web and saw a list of different recurring roles that all of the cast members did over the years... his list is astounding!! It is by far the longest of anyone's. I hope that people will see this list that love him, and take the time to reflect on how much laughter he gave us on just this one show, not to mention all of the other brilliant things that he did... He will never be forgotten.
Like so many of you I grew up watching Phil Hartman. I loved his characters on The Simpsons, and later on Newsradio. It wasn't until Newsradio that I developed a true appreciation for his talent. I was sixteen when he died, and I remember the void he left in all the things he was a part of. The Simpsons seemed bland, and Newsradio lost such a vital part of the show. TV never gets me emotional, but the memorial episode on Newsradio is the saddest TV moment I have ever seen. I'm sure many will agree. It's too bad people like Phil have to be torn away from the world so soon. Farewell, take care of each other, and I'll see you all when you get to wherever it is I am now. -Bill McNeal "Bill Moves On"
Mr. Phil Hartman the man of a thousand voices is truly missed but he has gone to a better place and is more than likely withGOD now. Phil Hartman is the heart of the Simpsons and of truecomedic performances. YOU ARE TRULY MISSED.... GOD BLESS HIS FAMILY, Jim Matson

We cannot wait until the spaceship brings you all back to us. Imagine the party that we're going to have.
For many who don't know, Phil was also the voice of Jiji in the heartwarming anime movie, Kiki's Delivery Srvice. Just another great accomplishment on your long, long, list. I wish I could of met you, you were my favorite actor.
I first heard of Phil Hartman through The Simpsons, and I was nothing short of loving his characters on the show. From there I started watching the Phil era SNL's, and then Newsradio. The biggest regret I'll ever have in life is never getting to meet him. It is refreshing to know you can always turn on your television and find something he did on any number of channels.

Phil... you always made me laugh, you're the best. Watching you on NewsRadio is great. You are my favourite character!
Both my parents are now fighting cancer. Watching reruns of SNL is helping me get through this hard time. Phil, even though you are no longer with us physically, you live on in your sketches and our memories. I just wish I could tell you how much you mean to me right now.

Rocket Fuel Malt Liqour....DAMMM!!! Phil Hartman was simply the best....This strange typing box makes me afraid..it confuses me...I'm just a Caveman....Rest well my friend...we ALL love you.
A truly honourable comedian. Priceless. He will be sorely missed. I loved his work in NewsRadion, his timing, his acting, the absolute pleasure of seeing Bill McNeal... I miss him. :(
Man, I keep seeing News Radio and I´m still impressed with Phil´s comedy style, I just love it. Time goes by and life goes on, but I´m sure a lot of people around the world still carry Phil in their hearts. Miss you man.
I feel like I am on another planet, I was shocked to hear of the death of Phil Hartman. I live in Holland , and one of my daughters favorite videos is "Jingle All The Way" around x-mas time Phil is in our living room daily. What a shame to know he isnt here anymore, again a waste of a human life.God Bless his family and love ones, I feel bad that I only now just heard about it,too bad they took away Jay Leno and David Letterman here, I would have been up on things.
Thanks for making such a nice site, with so much content. The interviews and pictures especially. I enjoy Newsradio a lot (as well as KITH, SNL and Star Wars).Kudos to you sir. And kudos again.
Saaaddd....Saaaaddd Baaadddd....What is a holiday without a greeting from Tarzan, Tonto, and Frankenstein? Phil's years at SNL were crucial to the developement of my growing sense of humor. Thanks, Phil, for the best Bill Clinton impressions. Thanks for being the concerned father who hired Matt Foley. Thanks for making us laugh, smile, and think about life in a different way.
Phil Hartman was a geniune comedic talent. His incredible comedic range, talent, and timing were amazing. As Newsradio's Bill McNeil, he demonstrated a side-splitting smuggness coupled with a smurky egotisim few could duplicate. The pretentiousness and shallowness that Phil proudly flaunted was actually, and ironically, very refreshing. He will be greatly missed.
i have a heavy heart. i've been following the NewsRadio here in the middle east. i am so impresed with the guy that i tried to browse the net for his name looking for the work he has done. i really am sad to found out that he is already dead...
I can remember, as a teenager, watching Phil on the mid-80s SNL. His artistry was amazing, and his ability to portray characters to the tee was uncanny. I can remember after watching Phil one weekend, I went into work and started doing Ed McMahon imitations! I learned that, of course, from the master, Mr. Hartman. Even after four years, the world of comedy doesn't seem the same without him. I recently watched a celebration of comedians at The Improv. I thought of Phil Hartman.......
Everytime I see Phil Hartman on TV or even hear someone speaking of him I feel as if I could cry. He was talented, one of the most talented people that was every on SNL. Whether it's watching him on SNL, News Radio or as the characters he protrayed on The Simpsons, my heart and soul will always have a special place in my mind.
It is amazing and wonderful to see this site. I still wish Phil was here to continue to make us laugh. At least we have comedy central to replay SNL and A&E to play Newsradio. Phil was always my favorite on both shows and I am still sad when I think of him. Thanks for posting the interviews to allow us to realize what a humble and grounded man he was, full of a passion for life while recognizing how good he had it. He was taken from us too early and unfairly. Thanks for all the laughs Phil!
I thought Phil was a genius before he was on SNL or NEWS RADIO. The rest of the world found out then. Whenever I watch a rerun with the late Mr.Hartman, I mourn the passing of a comic genius.
Phil....You will always be remembered.....and i agree with everyone else that the world does feel empty without you.... but we all know your smiling down on each and every one of us....

I see I am not alone in remembering Phil. He would be so happy that so many people loved him. It was so sad to lose him so young and so tragically. Phil, you are in my prayers often. Thanks for the laughter you brought me and others.
I was sitting and enjoying one of Phil Hartman's films, and for some odd reason, I just couldn't remember how he was taken from us. That's what brought me to my computer, whereupon I found this website. I frequently marvel at his talent when I watch the SNL reruns, hear his voice in animation and commercial forums, or see the movies he was a part of. While I feel deep sadness that he is no longer a part of the world we know, I also feel great joy and inspiration from what gifts he contributed while he was. The beauty is that he is indeed still with us, bringing us laughter. The world can use all the laughter it can get.
Phil, thanks for every lagh you gave me\Every tear that I have shedand that time I laughed so hard that made my appendix burst

4 years later and I'm still mourning the loss of such a nice man. Even thou I never met Phil he had a presence about him, thru interviews, that made him genuinely likeable. Something in his eyes that made you at ease. Its a shame such a great man had to leave us so soon.
I am another fan who watches reruns of Newsradio on A&E and I cried for a very long time after watching the episode when Bill McNieal dies. As you saw the cast sob over the letters that were given to them, you know the tears were really being shed for Phil's death. When a character on a TV show dies, you know the person who played that character just decided to leave the show to do other projects, but not this time. It is still hard to realize that Phil is gone. I always thought he was funny on SNL but I really liked him on Newsradio and it never really hit me that he had died. I was only 13 when he died, so I thought it was a shame but now I sit down and cry. The world definitely feels empty without Phil here to make us laugh. I know he's looking down on us from Heaven. May he rest in peace.xox; Jess
Wow...I feel much better! I thought I was pretty much alone here...and I'm not! I too was watching the episode of Newsradio where Bill McNeal dies and I ended up bursting into tears. It really hurt to lose Phil...i really love the guy and its nice to see so many other folks in here like me..still think about him every single day!! I've written and recorded two songs for Phil and I hope one day, they go all the way to number one on the radio...then the world will be singing his song and keeping him alive...every single time they play that song. Nice to meet all of you Phil-pals....feel free to contact me for further Phil talk anytime. Peace and God bless!

I never relized that so many people felt such a stonge admiration for Phil Hartman as I did. What the world lost is evidently irreplacable.
Today I was watching NewsRadio, and it was the episode where Phil died and all his co-workers got letters from him. I must admit I never really caught on to the show untill after it went off the air. I love the re-runs and I feel like I know all the characters. Today's episode really touched me. I knew Phil Hartman was dead, but it didn't really hit me untill today. Innocent people die everyday, but loosing Phil Hartman was like loosing someone you knew. And we all knew him. He made us laugh...and laugh harder...and then eventually he made us cry. It's so very tragic. All I know is, if he's in Heavin, he's making God laugh. Phil, you are dearly mised. -Joy

I too, was just watching the episode on A&E when Bill McNeil dies. It's been over 4 years since this great talent was lost. And ever time I see him, I am torn between laughing and crying. He was truly one of the best comedy actors of all time. Of course, I was just a fan. I didn't know the man. I only know the amount of laughter that will never be because he is gone. He left behind a body of work that will likely never be equalled. He could do it all. And do it with style. Rest in peace Phil
Four years have passed by. I don't remember the day Phil died, or even knowing about it till much later on. I became the biggest Newsradio fan after it went off the air, but was still showing re-runs. I knew by then that Phil was dead, and didn't care as much then as I do now. After a while, I'd seen every single Newsradio episode, but continued to watch them. Soon, I felt like I knew each of the characters personally. The episode where they read Bill's last words and everything always made me cry. I just finished watching that episode on television, and I started crying. I know that Phil is in a better place now, but I'm still sad. The world is a little sadder without Phil. Thanks for the smiles, the laughs, and most of all the love. Phil loved nothing more than to know that he entertained people, and I'm sure if he were here today, he'd be proud that so many people are still entertained by him and his efforts long after he's gone. Rest in peace Phil. James Ristvedt
I am sitting here this AM watching "News Radio" It is the episode where they are reading Phil's will. I always dread this episode as the ones that follow aren't nearly as good without Phil. As far as I am concerned he made the show and I will always think of him anytime I watch SNL or NewsRadio. P.S. Matthew was right. Bill is not dead. We SALUTE YOU Sir.
4 years later I still mourn over the tragic death of the best comedian ever. Where ever you are Phil, I always think of you before bed along with another great one, someone you have met many times before, Dave Foley. You two are the BEST EVER!!!!!

Phil, you are one of the greatest. The world is an emptier place without you. You will be missed and loved always. Thank you for the joy.
SHoot, my song didn't come out in the format I'd hoped and now its all run together, hard to read, oh well....at least I gave it a shot!!! If anyone knows of a tribute page for phil...where poetry and songlyrics can come out in a longer format, please let me know....thanks
Okay, I don't know how much room I have but here are the song lyrics to the tribute I wrote for Phil Hartman a month after he died. The song is based on a series of dreams I was having about him....which seemed real cuz they were so vivid....hope ya like: THE GHOST WHO SOFTLY HAUNTS ME(For Phil Hartman)I drove to your house late last Saturday nightI sat there all alone awhileUnderneath the midnight skyI stared at your darkened windowsThat were once so warm with lightAnd I was missing you so terriblyYour smile, your voice, your eyesI still can hear you say how you wanted "Nothing but time""A life supply of time"But that was all stolen awayWhile you slept in your bed one nightCHORUS:YOU'RE THE GHOST WHO SOFTLY HAUNTS METHE GHOST WHO SOFTLY HAUNTS MEFROM OVER ON THE OTHER SIDEFROM OVER ON THE OTHER SIDEAND I SWEAR I FEEL YOU NEAR MEI SWEAR THAT YOU CAN HEAR MEAND I KNOW YOU KNOW HOW DEARLYWE MISS YOU, WE MISS YOU, WE MISS YOUSometimes I see you in my dreamsAnd you tell me you're alrightOh Phil, I'm still so in love with you my dearThat my love could fill the skyYeah my tears could fill the skyOh why did this have to happen, tell me why why why!I still can hear you say how you wanted "Nothing but time""A life supply of time"But that was stolen awayWhile you slept in your bed one night...CHORUSNOW, YOU'RE THE GHOST WHO SOFTLY HAUNTS METHE GHOST WHO SOFTLY HAUNTS MEFROM OVER ON THE OTHER SIDEFROM OVER ON THE OTHER SIDEAND I SWEAR I FEEL YOU NEAR MEI SWEAR THAT YOU STILL HEAR MEAND I KNOW YOU KNOW HOW DEARLYWE MISS YOU, WE MISS YOU, WE MISS YOUYou're the ghost who softly haunts me.......(Copyright 1998/K.King/all rights reserved).Well fellow Phil fans....hope you liked my tribute to him, I'll be re-recording the song soon. Take care.....(and Phil, I love ya!!! *kiss*
I just wanted to say how deeply I loved Phil Hartman. I miss him terribly. I live a few blocks away from his former Encino home where he died and everytime I pass his house, on my way to work or rehearsal, I always SALUTE him. I'm with all of you. He was a dear sweet talented genuine man....(and sssexy as ever too!! (*wink*). Anyway, I wrote phil a song and I obviously can't play it here but tomorrow, I will post the lyrics for you guys to read. And Phil, whereever your sweet soul is whirling now.....we love you and miss you guy!!!! Salut!!

Phil Hartman is so greatly missed. It's still very difficult to realize that he's gone. Finding this site has made me see that I am not alone in missing him even after all these years. To view all of the messages here is remarkable. This is a true reflection of what an incredibly gifted, talented and humble person Phil was. He touched so many people's lives in such a great way. THANK YOU for remembering him and keeping his memory alive. We miss you, Phil.

Phil Hartman, was one of the very special comic geniuses, and i really enjoyed watching Bill McNeal and various characters on SNL. Its really sad what happened in 1998, I'm sure you are in a good place making everyone laugh. I know all people who knew about you miss you. You were a funny guy.
Well, I just want to say that Phil was a great guy...very funny and very talented. I really beleive that whatever amount of intellegence we attain in this life will stay with us in the next. Which means that Phil is still a smart, funny caring guy, even on the other side and man, how I would like to meet him someday...
Phil Hartman....what few things can be said about a comic genius who did so many.I didn't know him personally but i really felt like i did. His impersonations of people were so real and weren't paper thin like other comedians of the time.I just started watching SNL and newsradio a gain recently and i realized what a person Phil was.Other works of his that are great are the simpsons and assorted comedic family films. He was and still is my hero who was not only an actor but a family man.I still look up to him even after 5 years of him being gone. You'll be missed my friend.... as his character in newsradio,Bill Mcneal, said in his will,"I'll see you all soon when you come to where ever I'am" I'll see you there When my time comes Phil, fooling god with your impression of Jesus.... I'll see you there
It's sad to think about what he is doing right now. But,sometimes I can imagine what he's doing. What i'm tring to say is that that everyone misses him dearly and we'll always be thinking of you.Rest In Peace Phil..
I miss Phil to this day. I love all of Phil's TV characters, especially Troy McClure, Frank Sinatra, and Bill McNeil. It is sad to think about what he might be doing now if he were still here. Besides making us laugh.

I watched NewsRadio, and the tribute episode was heartbreaking. It's a damn shame what happened to Mr. Hartman. My heart goes out to his children, and I'm sure that he is in heaven. God bless you, Mr Hartman.

I read an old interview with Phil Hartman where he said his only talent was voices and comic-villans. Also he said he didn't have the clout of a major actor. This is what strikes me most about Phil Hartman, he was humble. With all that skill and talent, he still remained clear headed. With all this sadness, I try to remember Phil lives on. I wouldn't be surpised if he is in heaven right now doing a John Wayne impersonation so funny that it makes God fall off his seat from laughter. Nothing so great ever ceases to exist.
Even after five years of his absence, I still find it hard to sit down and watch a Phil Hartman sketch or NewsRadio without feeling a little teary eyed after I am done rolling on the floor uncontrollably laughing. When I am sad, the only thing that can get me to sleep is Phil on NewsRadio or SNL...may he be happy wherever he is now.
on that day, we saw one of the greatest comics that ever lived fall. we should all take comfort that he did not have to deal with all this "sheggit" that is going on in the world today. the world gived you the 21 laugh salute. see you at those pearly gates my friend. until then, your memory will be kept on, even if its only a candle in my back yard.
Phil Hartman was and always will be a complete genius. Everything he's done has made millions of people happier. His work has touched the life of every single person here. My favourite Phil character of all time was Bill McNeill on NewsRadio - it still remains, to this day, my favourite show, and the episode when everybody is mourning his death still makes me cry every time. NR, The Simpsons, SNL... everything he's done is great. Phil, wherever you are, buddy, you've still got millions of fans here on earth who love you, adore your work, and will remember you to the ends. Rest peacefully in comedic genius heaven.
In heart and prayers, I hope your in a better place Phil. You made the world a bit brighter with your humor and I want to thank you for every single laugh you gave me. Rest in peace Mr. Hartman.
I never knew Phil and in fact he started on SNL the year i was born. I always watched SNL whether i understood it or not. But Phil always stood out to me and i was so upset when i found out he died. There will never be a bill clinton impersonator quite like Phil. SNL still isn't the same without him. We will all deeply miss you Phil.
Words cannot express how sad I was to hear that Phil Hartman had died. Even after four years, I still feel the sadness. Phil was a great man, actor, father, and friend. He was my favorite castmember of SNL, as well as my favorite actor and comedian. He had a smile that could light up the room. It did more than that. It lit up the world. He will be forever missed. Thank you for all of the tear filled laughs and giggles. You truly had a gift to make people forget about their problems for a while and make them feel good about themselves. Here's to you Phil. May you rest in peace, sweetheart.
I liked how Phil was a very strong foundation for SNL, during his time there, hard to imagine if he wasn't there, but he was. He was fortunate enough to work with Dana Carvey, who has a movie coming out this summer, and Mike Myers, Jon Lovitz, Nealon, and everyone else, which I think was an excellent cast, as Phil worked well with all of them.I like the new SNL, but if Phil wasn't in the late 80's - early 90's reign, then I probably wouldn't have liked SNL alot, at the time.

Phil Hartman was a comic genius who should still be making us laugh. Luckily, we can still see his amazing bits on SNL and NewsRadio and the movies he appeared in. It saddens me greatly that Phil is gone, but I am glad he was here in the first place!

I didn´t know anything about Phil until this year, when I started to watch Newsradio. I´m from Argentina and I ´ve seen some SNL skits but now I discover this incredible actor and so talent! Today I coulnd´t stop crying when I discover that he has gone forever. Rest in peace dear Phil, I have the chance of seeing Newsradio and SNL everyday, I can´t forget about you Phil....
well... it's that day again... the day i wish i could forget, or rather, i wish it didn't happen. but instead of reflecting on what happened, i'd rather take this time to commemorate my favorite actor of all time. PHIL, you made me laugh like no other. i've posted on this site many times before praising your work, but on this day i wish to leave a message for you. i am still an avid follower of the characters you portrayed on snl. i wait for simpsons re-runs with troy mcclure and lionel hutz to come on everyday. i also catch re-runs of newsradio, and it's dreadful to watch its final season (without you). i still miss you a great deal PHIL, and after four years it's still difficult to believe that you're gone. since i didn't know you personally, your legacy still lives on through the characters you played. i think as time passes, more and more people realize how much they miss your talent. recently i've found clips that i can't stop laughing at. when you were on dennis miller: live talking about immigration (which is a great clip that shows more of you personally), the classic 'bill clinton visits mcdonald's' on snl, and when you did the frank sinatra group on snl. thankfully there are people out there who post these sound clips and how they still care about you and contribute to keeping your memory alive. you will forever be missed PHIL. these last four years have been very hard on me, and by keeping your memory alive, i can still be in denial that you're even gone. my prayers are with you... rest in peace PHIL, rest in peace.
